Our Philosophy

At ECLA we care for our children with a strong emphasis on the social and emotional  aspect of their development. Our Piaget-inspired philosophy centers on the belief that children actively construct their understanding of the world through hands-on experiences and project based learning. Emphasizing the importance of developmentally appropriate activities, we create environments rich in materials and opportunities for exploration. We recognize the individuality of each child’s developmental journey, and we strive to foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a lifelong love of learning in a compassionate and a flexible way.

The following are some highlights of our curriculum:

Outdoor Play

We spend one hour in the morning and over one hour in the afternoon. Children get plenty of sunshine and excise that is necessary to their developing bodies, In the playground the children are in close proximity to the garden which  they plant, water and care for through out the year.

Early Literacy

We build early literacy skills by exposing children to books, stories, and a print rich environment. We integrate letters and sounds through music and play, as well as puppets, characters, and games

Early Math

Early mathematical concepts are introduced  through a multitude of fun activities. Some of the concepts our children are introduced to are numbers, quantity, shapes, measurement, patterns, comparison, and the calendar. The learning happens through play, games, music and hands-on- activities.

Storytime

Storytime introduces children to books and early literacy skills they need to master before they learn to read, it’s a learning time that expands children’s imagination, builds their vocabulary, and enhances their attention span.

Science/ Social Studies

Children are excited to learn about different subjects that are presented to them through weekly themes. We cover topics that are meaningful to the children like Community Helpers, Transportation, Gardening, Plants, Insects, Animals, Weather, Seasons, Outer Space, Holidays …etc. Science is a fun time for the children to discover, explore, and learn about the community and the world around them.

Arts and Crafts

We offer Arts and Craft on a daily basis. We use different mediums and materials and provide fun activities such as painting, coloring, drawing, tracing, cutting, folding, gluing, and much more.

Music

Music is an integral component of our daily curriculum, it’s present throughout the day and used in different subjects, such as learning numbers, phonics and science. As well as experience the joy of singing and dancing together.
