Our approach combines Piaget’s emphasis on learning through active discovery with Waldorf-inspired creativity, imagination, rhythm, and connection to nature. Children are given time to explore, create, think, and grow through meaningful hands-on experiences.
Our program is project-based. Our children learn through projects, hands-on materials, music, and art every day, spend a generous time outdoors, and make real choices about their own work, alongside teachers who empower them and care for them.
French is introduced as part of the children’s daily experience through songs, greetings, vocabulary, stories, repetition, and simple conversation, in a natural and enjoyable way.
Early Childhood Learning Academy is a preschool and extended daycare located in the Cambrian area of San Jose, with toddler and preschool children ages 2 to 5 years.

2 to 5yearsSongs, greetings, vocabulary, and stories help children become comfortable hearing a second language from an early age.
Music runs through multiple times a day. We use it to teach numbers, phonics, and science, and for the pleasure of singing and dancing together.
Daily yoga is complimentary at ECLA. Children practice balance, body awareness, focus, calmness, and following directions.
Families may sign up for our weekly basketball program with Rebound Basketball and coach Steve, which comes directly to ECLA.

Project-based learning opens fully, with weekly themes carried through story time, art, math, and science. French and Show and Tell begin here.
Ages 3 to 5
Circle time, phonics and math, art, music, outdoor play, lunch, and rest, in a consistent routine children can count on.
7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
Summer runs straight on from spring on the same weekly theme calendar, and it is when the themes get livelier and more fun.
