July at Early Childhood Learning Academy was full, busy, and joyful. Each week brought a new theme for our children to explore, and every one of them became a chance for real learning, the kind that happens through touch, movement, and curiosity rather than worksheets.
We opened the month with America the Beautiful, where children explored colors, shapes, and symbols connected to our country. Art projects turned into conversations about community, and our youngest learners practiced new vocabulary while painting, cutting, and gluing their way through the week.
Next came The Great Outdoors, a week built around the extended outdoor time our classrooms enjoy every single day. Children tended our garden, observed bugs and plants up close, and practiced balance and coordination on the playground. For many of our preschoolers, this was a favorite stretch of summer.
During Everything Sensory, our classrooms filled with textures to discover. Children scooped, squeezed, and sorted their way through hands-on activities designed to build fine motor skills and focus, all while having a great time doing it.
We closed the month with Water Play, a week of splashing, pouring, and cooling off together. Beyond the fun, water play gave children chances to practice sharing, patience, and problem solving as they figured out how to fill, pour, and measure alongside their classmates.
Every theme this month was chosen with intention, and every activity was an opportunity for our children to choose, explore, and grow at their own pace. This is what learning looks like at ECLA, and we feel lucky to get to watch it unfold every day.
