Children thrive on knowing what happens next, and at ECLA, our daily routine gives them exactly that. From the moment our doors open until pickup, our schedule stays steady and predictable, and that consistency does more for our children than most people realize.
Young children do not yet understand time, so a set rhythm to the day removes a lot of confusion. When children know that story time follows snack, or that outdoor play comes after lunch, they feel calm and in control of their own day.
Our routine also builds independence. Children take responsibility for small tasks, like getting out their own blanket at naptime and putting it away when they wake up. These small jobs build big confidence.
Recess is a favorite part of the day, and our children look forward to it because they know exactly when it is coming. That anticipation is part of what makes the day feel good to them.
New children settle in quickly because of this same structure. Within about a week, most children learn the rhythm of the classroom and start moving through their day with confidence. A steady routine is one of the simplest ways we help every child feel at home at ECLA.
